Parvanah's Fatty Coffee Bliss: Our favourite way to start the day (plus an option for tea drinkers)

Fatty Coffee Bliss from Parvanah Wellness is our favourite way to start the day! The perfect combination of nourishment and flavour to get you going in the morning (or afternoon).

Life is beautifully full.

What is "beautifully full"?

It's a life that is filled with all of the pieces that bring joy, with the right amount of space to nurture ease.

Often times sleep is sparse - whether because I'm hit with divine inspiration to create, or my little ones are needing extra love, or they wake up before my alarm (deciding that rising well before the sunrise is an ideal time to get out of bed).

Regardless of the reason, I often (read: everyday) start my day with a cup of fatty coffee. There are lot of variations of this recipe floating around on the internet. Below is my take, which adds a little extra protein thanks to powdered collagen and lots of flavour.

I know that vanilla powder is pretty pricey right and for good reason. (If you haven't read up on the vanilla industry, then I encourage you to check it out and read up on how fragile and threatened the supply is.) Lately I'm using an organic natural vanilla extract from Simply Organic as an alternative to my beloved powdered vanilla bean.

I hope you enjoy! Let me know in the comments if you come up with other tasty variations.

With light,

Tina

Parvanah's Fatty Coffee Bliss

For the recipe below use as much coffee or tea as you like. For tea, we've experimented with black tea and chai tea (rooibos and black). Both were delicious! For you coffee drinkers I encourage you to try something new and give the tea option a try someday.

Ingredients for Fatty Coffee (Keto Diet)

5 g   cacao butter
1 tsp cacao powder*
1 tbsp virgin coconut oil
1 tbsp MCT oil
2 tbsp hydrolyzed collagen (also known as collagen hydrolysate)**
pinch of vanilla bean powder
dash of Ceylon cinnamon***

Use as much coffee as you want. I usually use 16 - 20 oz for this recipe. Remember that the less you use the stronger the taste and the more you use the weaker the taste.

Ingredients for Fatty Coffee (Non-Keto Diet)

5 g   cacao butter
1 tsp cacao powder*
1 tsp virgin coconut oil
1 tsp MCT oil
2 tbsp hydrolyzed collagen (also known as collagen hydrolysate)**
pinch of vanilla bean powder
dash of Ceylon cinnamon***

Use as much coffee as you want. I usually use 16 - 20 oz for this recipe. Remember that the less you use the stronger the taste and the more you use the weaker the taste.

Instructions

Place all ingredients in a blender. Add your hot beverage of choice (coffee or tea). Blend for 30 seconds. Pour into your cup. Enjoy!

Time-Saving Tip: Pre-fill some small containers with the dry ingredients so that in the morning all you need to do is pour a small container into the blender, add your oils and heated beverage, and blend!

* Cacao powder and cocoa powder come from the same source. The difference is that cacao powder is processed in the raw form and cocoa powder is roasted. This has a distinct impact on the nutritional benefits: the high-heat processing used to make cocoa powder reduces the antioxidant level in comparison to cacao powder. However, if cacao powder isn't available to you or is out of your price range, then cocoa powder will still give you a great tasting fatty coffee.

** Leave this out if you're vegan or vegetarian.

*** Ceylon cinnamon is also known as "true" cinnamon. Commonly the generic cinnamon sold on the market is of the cassia variety because this cinnamon variety has a stronger, more robust flavour than ceylon cinnamon. Why is this important? Because the studies that demonstrate the nutritional benefits of cinnamon often use ceylon cinnamon ("true" cinnamon)!
